Ali Akbar Alvandian, regarding the production of blended cements in the country, stated: In the discussion of the development of cement products, we are constantly conducting research and development to produce new cements. We have now reached more than 40 types of products on the commodity exchange and the standards for the production of new products have been announced.
Alvandian said: The development of new products, in addition to paying attention to the future durability of residential and industrial units, also involves the issue of optimizing fuel consumption, which advances both goals by developing new cement products.
Regarding the percentage of cement produced in the country that is allocated to blended cements, the secretary of the Cement Industry Employers’ Association stated: About 12 percent of the cement that is supplied and sold is allocated to blended cements, and we are at the beginning of this process, but the grounds for it have been prepared and God willing, it will develop further in this area.
Alvandian said: We have reached 12% from 2% and the production of blended cements is growing, but along with the growth in production, attention should also be paid to building a culture and increasing the skills of using this type of cement.
The secretary of the Cement Industry Employers’ Association, stating that we very much hope that these new cements will find their place in the country, stated: Now these blended cements have found their place all over the world and in the country, the fields of work have been provided and its standards have been defined; the knowledge of it exists in the country, we are producing it and we hope that its consumption will also grow.
Alvandian also said about replacing fuel consumption in the cement industry: The issue of energy economy in the cement industry is a matter that needs to be given much attention. In any case, we calculate how much fuel should be consumed to produce one ton of cement and how much we should pay for it.
The Secretary of the Cement Industry Employers’ Association stated: “Currently, the fuels used in cement production are gas, diesel, coal, and RDF. In addition, municipal waste is also used as fuel for cement production, and the municipality should provide this waste to cement factories.” Alvandian continued: “Some non-renewable municipal waste should be returned to the disposal cycle and its energy should be used, which is part of the social mission of the cement industry, the disposal of this municipal waste; cement kilns, which operate at temperatures of more than 1,300 degrees, are capable of disposing of and recycling this municipal waste.”
